Job summary

Dr Kumar & Dr Sinha Practice, located in the heart of Shoebury, has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive care navigator/receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis, for 25 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. You will act as the central point of contact for our patients and manage enquiries, messages and the distribution of information, liaising with external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.

Main duties of the job

  • Greeting patients and visitors in an efficient and courteous manner.
  • Care navigating patients to the appropriate service.
  • Booking, cancelling and amending appointments.
  • Providing an effective and polite telephone enquiry service.
  • Assisting service users with all enquires.
  • Carrying out reception administration duties.
  • Ensuring up to date maintenance of computerised patient records.
  • Issuing and distribution of repeat medication requests.
  • Facilitating the smooth running of clinical teams' surgeries.

About us

Dr Kumar and Dr Sinha Family Practice have been offering GP medical services to the people of Shoebury for some 30 years. Currently serving 8,657 registered patients, the partners are supported in their work by the management and a multi-disciplinary team.

The practice is a member of Southend East Primary Care Network, a collaboration of local practices which enables greater proactive and more integrated health and social care for patients.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, ideally Maths & English (grade C or above) or equivalent.

Desirable

  • AMSPAR reception qualification.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.

Experience

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Be able to work om your own initiative and be prepared to assist in all areas of reception.
  • Be passionate about delivering excellent customer service.
  • Experience of working with the general public.
  • Experience of administration duties.
  • Strong IT skills, competent on Office and Outlook.
  • Clear, polite telephone manner.
  • Polite, confident and sensitive in distressing situations.
  • Some flexibility is required, as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

  • SystmOne experience.
