Job summary

Oakfield Surgery has an opportunity for an enthusiastic & flexible care navigator with strong customer service skills to join our team on a full or part-time basis. Oakfield Surgery are part of Suffolk Primary Care - a group of 8 GP practices across Suffolk. We have an established team with a strong focus on customer service & communication.

The post-holder will interact with patients to ensure they are offered a positive experience by providing professional front line & call handling services. They will help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate & up-to-date, & ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide & process information in response to patients' enquiries, concerns & requests
  • Work as part of the reception team in an efficient manner, providing high quality reception, admin & support services to all patients, visitors & staff
  • Greet & direct all patients
  • Ensure an effective & efficient reception service is provided to patients & visitors to the practice
  • Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures & make follow-up appointments as requested by clinicians.
  • Use own judgement & communication skills to ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical & non-disruptive manner.
  • We would love to hear from candidates with GP surgery experience, those that can show flexibility & a range of transferable skills.

  • GCSE grade 4 and above / A to C in English and Maths

Experience

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills, with a clear and polite telephone manner;
  • Ability to work in a polite, confidential and discreet manner, respecting patients at all times;
  • Experience of working with the general public, being sensitive and empathic in distressing situations;
  • Confidence to work as part of a team and ability to "think on your feet";
  • Strong IT and administration skills;
  • Ability to work calmly and the ability to multi-task;
  • A strong command of written and spoken English.
