Job summary

We are proactively seeking an assistant practice manager to join our quest in re-balancing primary care to be a rewarding environment for staff as well as ensuring excellent patient care. Importantly, we value staff happiness & proactively address work-life balance.

We are a friendly, high-performing practice caring for circa 12,000 patients in North East Essex equidistant between Chelmsford & Colchester, providing equal access to London in one direction & the beautiful coast & East Anglia in the other. We consist of 2 GP Partners (who are married to each other) & 6 Salaried GPs (all working on a part-time basis) as well as excellent nursing & pharmacy teams.

We emphasise family-friendly working conditions. We are a founding member of the COLTE Partnership, benefiting from working at scale & sharing skills in both a clinical & non-clinical capacity whilst maintaining financial & operational independence. We also benefit from working in a PCN with two other like-minded practices.

Pay is dependent on experience & ability to demonstrate innovation & proactive awareness of future opportunities & challenges.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone confident, flexible and motivated with high level of integrity and loyalty. Someone that can work under pressure and process information accurately and effectively. They will need to be able to work on their own initiative and be committed to supporting a team.

If you have some experience managing a small team already, and are looking to expand your experience into managing a more diverse workload then this is the role for you - with excellent support from our executive team at head office, and from the partners at the practice, you will be encouraged and supported to become a great manager in primary care, developing yourself and your teamto achieve the partnership and branch performance objectives.

Experience in a primary care setting will be of an extreme advantage as will experience of working in a customer service role.Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

About us

The Colte Partnership was formed in 2017 and consists of 9 Branches across Colchester and Tendring caring for approx. 95,000 patients.

We also work as three collaborative primary care networks (PCNs) which span across Colchester and Tendring:

  • Ambrose Avenue Group Practice, Riverside Medical Centre & Ardleigh Surgery
  • Mersea Island Medical Practice, Tiptree Medical Centre & Rowhedge Medical Centre
  • Walton Medical Centre, Colne Medical Centre & Wivenhoe Medical Centre

There is a wide socio-economic and demographic served within this area which will provide an interesting and varied case mix. You will be joining an enthusiastic team of clinicians and administrators. You will be well supported with on-going professional development (training support, CPD and peer support). The role will contribute to the improving quality of care of our patients across the network of practices.
