Job summary
EAST:MK Primary Care Network has exciting opportunity for an advanced paramedic to join our team. We are looking for someone to join us on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week, over 5 days between Monday and Saturday, on a rota basis across the 4 surgeries that make up the PCN.
You will deliver high quality patient services, including home visiting, clinic working and patient caseload management, as an autonomous, accountable paramedic providing holistic care for individuals including assessment, diagnosis, management, prescribing & treatment.
Main duties of the job
- Assessing & treating patients in their own place of residence & attending surgery.
- Triaging & treating patients, making any necessary referrals to other members of the team & MDT and/or organise admission to hospital if required.
- Ensuring clinical practice is safe & effective, remaining within boundaries of competence.
- Advising patients on maintaining health & wellbeing, referring to other team members as need arises.
- Communicating at all levels within the team ensuring effective service is delivered.
- Ensuring evidence-based care is delivered at the highest standards ensuring delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Participating in the audit process, evaluation & implementing plans, practice change to meet patient need.
- Contributing positively to the effectiveness of the team and work colleagues.
- Taking responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, working with other team members to ensure they are protected.

East:MK PCN covers a total population of approximately 52,000 patients, across its 4 practices in Milton Keynes: Ashfield Medical Centre, CMK Medical Centre, Milton Keynes Village Practice and the Grove Surgery.

Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree/diploma level in Paramedicine or equivalent experience.
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Independent Medical Prescribing qualification
Desirable
- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Full driving licence, as travel around the locality is a requirement of the role.
- A further 3 years' experience, or equivalent, as a band 6.
- Advanced clinical practice skills.
- Experience of management of patients with common acute medical conditions and long-term conditions.
- Ability to work well with colleagues & within a team.
- Ability to exercise sound judgements when faced with conflicting pressures.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the primary care network.
- Highly motivated.
- Energy & enthusiasm.
- Ability to work under pressure & organise workload effectively.
- An enquiring and critical approach to work.
- Caring attitude to patients.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives & agencies.
