Job summary

Rushbottom Lane Surgery is looking to appoint an experienced practice manager to lead our organisation on a full-time basis for 37.5 hours per week over 5 days.

The postholder will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the surgery. If you are an experienced practice manager looking for a new challenge, then we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Leading the primary care services, to ensure that the practice meets regulatory & contractual standards whilst remaining financially viable
  • Providing solid leadership, based on a sound knowledge of business management, finance, planning & human resource management, including recruitment
  • Driving innovation & modernisation
  • Meeting the reporting requirements of the partnership & complying with local & national KPIs & contracts
  • Co-ordinating & leading the operational delivery of the services in the practice, engaging with staff, patients & local commissioners
  • Presenting & analysing data, to monitor quality
  • Attending local meetings, to represent the surgery, & reporting to partners
  • Effectively managing all staff
  • Developing effective partnership, with other organisations, to benefit the practice
  • Taking responsibility for security, repairs, insurance & maintenance of premises, services & equipment
  • Ensuring that the practice complies with all aspects of Health & Safety at Work legislation
  • Implementing & maintaining systems, under direction from the partners
  • Handling patient enquiries & suggestions, including oversight of the practice-based complaints procedure in conjunction with the relevant partner
  • Reviewing & updating the practices information leaflet & website
  • Handling practice publicity & health education materials
  • Being involved in managing the computer system
  • Ensuring practice compliance with data protection legislation
  • Preparing practice business plans & annual reports.

About us

Rushbottom Lane Surgery is made up of two GP Practices, Dr Khan & Partners and St Georges Medical Practice. Dr Khan & Partners and St Georges Medical Practice are both training practices based in Benfleet in Essex. We are active members of Benfleet PCN with Dr R Khan being the PCN CD. We are friendly team, with 12 GP partners across the two practices. We offer the NHS pension scheme and 33 days holiday (pro rata for part-time).

  • A relevant qualification in business management, or equivalent qualification or experience;

  • Previous Practice Management Experience
  • Knowledge of CQC and the SAF
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and HR
  • Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation, as well as experience in managing a diverse workforce;
  • Strong skills and experience in HR, premises management, IT and complaint handling;
  • Prior experience of leadership and personnel management, ideally within a healthcare setting;
  • Ability to deliver a vision, with a willingness and the drive to adapt to NHS targets and business planning, whilst keeping abreast of legislative and contractual changes;
  • Self-motivated, with a forward-thinking, solution-focused approach;
  • The ability to develop, implement and embed policies, procedures and guidelines;
  • Experience of working in an ever-evolving environment, with an ability to cope with regular change;
  • Excellent organisational, management and planning skills, IT skills and communication skills;
