Job summary

Priory Medical Practice is looking to recruit an advanced clinical practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team, on a full time basis for 37.5 hours per week, to help us to transform and modernise pathways of care, enabling the safe and effective sharing of skills across traditional professional boundaries.

As an experienced healthcare professional, educated to masters level, you will have developed the skills and knowledge to allow them to take on an expanded role and scope of practice caring for patients. The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary, healthcare team, as you will work alongside fellow professionals within the practice in support of one another. The successful candidate may come from a range of professional backgrounds.

Main duties of the job

  • Urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients needs either in the practice or patient homes;
  • Support, and continue the development of, an on-the-day emergency patient service in the practice;
  • Accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in both emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history;
  • Evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral;
  • Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes;
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner.

About us

Priory Medical Practice aim to provide the highest standard of clinical care to the 7500 patients registered with the practice. We aim to work collaboratively with other healthcare providers and support organisations, to enable more patients to be treated in a primary care setting, closer to home. We embrace a continuous improvement ethos and strive to ensure that we are available to patients when they need a consultation. We have a strong training ethos within the practice with our medical educator as well as opportunities for non-clinical staff to develop and progress. Our team is currently made up of approximately 22 members of staff and is continually growing.

In addition to our routine GMS services, we offer a comprehensive range of services including minor surgery and cryotherapy clinics. The Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) is a voluntary annual reward and incentive programme for all GP surgeries in England, detailing practice achievement results. We have consistently high QOF achievement and excellent KPIs within the practice.

  • Be a registered paramedic, with current HCPC registration and have post-registration experience, ideally with some being in primary care;
  • Have completed ENP/ ECP Minor Injuries and Minor Illness course Level 6 and be a ALS/APLS provider;

  • Be able to evaluate patient care confidently;
  • Have experience of working to protocols and guidelines;
  • To exhibit excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills;

  • Experience of autonomous practice working and multi-professional team working;
