Job summary

Angel Hill Surgeryhas an opportunity for a receptionist to join our team on apart-time basis for 22.5 hours per week across 4 days to cover the following shifts:

Monday: 2.00pm - 7.00pm

Tuesday: 7.45am - 2.00pm

Wednesday: 2.00pm - 7.00pm

Friday: 7.45am - 2.00pm

Main duties of the job

There is more to our receptionist roles than answering the phone and making appointments.In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists help patients to access the right services, assist with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date, and ensure that appointment bookings are well-managed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Greeting and directing all patients;
  • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards, where required;
  • Accepting, issuing and handing out letters, completed forms, specimen bottles, etc.;
  • Dealing with requests for information, and managing problems and complaints;
  • Advising patients of practice procedures;
  • Registering new patients;
  • Answering the telephone, promptly;
  • Signposting patients to other healthcare professionals appropriately;
  • Updating patients contact details;
  • Directing patients around the surgery.

About us

Angel Hill Surgery is situated in the heart of Bury St Edmunds on the Angel Hill. We have a team of 11 doctors, 2 paramedics, 1 nurse practitioner, 5 practice nurses, 2 healthcare assistants with dispensary, medical secretary, and a reception/administrative teams. Under the practice management team, the team of 11 reception and administrative provide the above services for patients from 0800 to 1830 Monday to Friday and also Saturday from 0800 to 1200.

As a member of the Angel Hill Surgery team, you will automatically be enrolled into the NHS Pension scheme and the life insurance contained in it; the surgery provides a free health and welfare service for both the employee and their immediate family, a summer party for staff and partners and a Christmas party for staff.

The surgery partners and management team have an ethos of being a caring, approachable and considerate to staff and will support and assist as much as they possibly can with any work or external issues a member of staff have.
