Job summary

Chet Valley Medical Practice is recruiting for two medical receptionists to be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties.

Main duties of the job

You will project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.The roles are for 37 hours a week between 08.00-20.30, Monday - Friday. Occasional Saturday working will be requiredfor Extended Access and National Vaccination Campaigns.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionists. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system.
  • Processing face-to-face, telephone and footfall requests for appointments.
  • Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately.
  • Signposting patients to the correct service.
  • Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies.
  • Clinically coding data on SystmOne.
  • Entering data of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required.
  • Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary.
  • Directing requests for information, i.e. SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team.
  • Managing all queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the reception area and notice boards.
  • Supporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested.
  • Completing opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.
