Job summary
Watling Street Network PCN are offering a fantastic opportunity for a back office manager to join the team at their leading primary care network in Milton Keynes. We are seeking someone to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility around the hours during the day. We offer a salary starting from 16p/h (31,200 per annum), depending on experience.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for a large team of admin staff, prescription clerks and medical secretaries, based out of our head office in Kiln Farm. These roles were previously separate in each surgery and have recently been brought together as larger teams. The team works together to provide a combined back-office function for the Watling Street Primary Care Network and its three GP surgeries.

- Manage, supervise and guide the administrative staff in supporting the GP surgeries
- Become the go-to person to support the 3 roles, and cover absence where needed
- Work with the GP surgeries to create and streamline processes
- Keep the practice managers informed of any matters arising or potential problems where appropriate
- To line manage the teams, with 1:1s, appraisals and absence monitoring, with support from the HR team.
- Encourage and support personal development of members of the back office team
- Deal with any problems reported by team when it comes to the execution of their duties
- Coordinate and plan staff rotas where needed
- Maintain self and team professionalism
- Keep surgeries informed of any changes with absent staff
- Work with HR in managing new starters along with any training and development for all staff
Premises responsibilities
- Open and shut the premises, using the alarm system where appropriate
- Support with general cleaning and tidying where needed as part of the office team
- Update appropriate site manager of any issues where applicable
