Job summary
Woodhall Farm Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join the team at our small, friendly practice based in Hemel Hempstead, on a full or part-time basis, depending on the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
- New patient checks
- Pre-diabetic and NHS health checks, asthma and COPD checks
- Cytology screening
- Wound care
- Removal of sutures
- Urine analysis
- Ear syringing
- Hypertension management including 24 blood pressure monitors
- Diabetic and CHD management
- Carrying out ECGs
- Repeating contraception and depo administration
- Respiratory clinics including spirometry
- Travel risk assessment including immunisations
- Childhood immunisations
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil clinics
- Requesting pathology tests
- Using clinical judgement to detect early signs of physical or mental stress and take appropriate action
- Participating in health education
- Keeping accurate records and managing stock of vaccines and other equipment
- Maintaining adequate stock of vaccines, equipment, drugs, dressing, etc.
- Continuing nurse education and developing skills and qualifications
