Eastwood Group Practice have an exciting opportunity available for either a Salaried GP or GPs wanting to offer weekly sessional cover on a locum basis, to join our multi-disciplinary team to help us maintain and develop outstanding primary care services for our patients.
Main duties of the job
We are ideally looking for any GPs willing to provide 2-8 clinical sessions per week, to specifically include a Friday - and also ideally a Monday, if possible - However days and times are all open to negotiation with any interested GPs. We are prepared to offer flexible start/finish times, including options to explore term time contracts to suit the needs of any GPs with children of school age.
About us
The practice provides an annual study leave allowance aligned to the BMA model contract. We hold regular practice meetings which include sharing of ideas and feedback from all members of the team, safeguarding, and significant events.
We are supported by a full complement of Nurses and HCAs and in addition, the clinical staff employed via our PCN (SS9 PCN), including First contact Physiotherapist, urgent care home visiting ECPS, Clinical Pharmacists, Aligned mental health workers and Social Prescribers.
SS9 (along with Benfleet PCN) are also one of the first PCNS in Mid and South Essex to have already adopted the PACT (PCN Aligned Community Teams) way of working So as to more efficiently connect and collaborate with our aligned partners in care- across social care, community nursing teams, Palliative care, mental health and dementia teams to help us transform toward more efficient dynamic connected neighbourhood models of care. We have an aligned employed PACT clinical lead matron with care coordinator to help assist us in coordinating management of adults with complex multi-agency needs. The model is already demonstrating reductions on avoidable repeated urgent care crisis demand upon practices and the wider system alike, along with benefits reported by patients and their families

We are a friendly, well organised and forward-thinking practice in the well sought-after seaside town of Leigh-on-Sea. Staff welfare and patient care are at the core of our ethos. The Practice has a list size of circa just under 15,500 and is split over three-purpose built and very recently refurbished modern sites closely located to each other in the Eastwood Leigh on sea area- Each site is within a 2-3, minute drive of each other.
The role will consist of the appropriate mix of face to face and telephone consultations, although we are keen to embrace the advantages of the new ways of working that we have developed recently, including video and online consultations where appropriate for patients. Patients can currently be offered a face-to-face or virtual consult depending on their needs and preferences and are offered an appropriate appointment with either the appropriate ARRS professional or GP as required.
The on-call duty doctor deals with all urgent matters on the day and which may include triaging of any urgent home visits that may arise and allocating to the dedicated SS9 ECP paramedic resource or other services such as community Urgent Care Response Teams, as appropriate.
The duties of the post holder are to provide a full range of general medical services (this may or may not include providing 1 day of duty doctor cover either once a week or once a fortnight and/or one extended late evening session, either once a week or once a fortnight). We are willing to offer flexible hours to doctors in terms of their desired start and finish times- Plus, where possible, flexibility on any day that they may be covering a late evening session to permit them to start at midday or later if preferable.
You will also be encouraged to utilise and develop any skills for the improvement of services to patients, child health surveillance, family planning, training, etc., and the Practice encourages active engagement in developing and delivering new services. This will be subject to presentation of the appropriate certificates and update of relevant courses.
