Job summary

South West Region Breast Services are committed to delivering a high-quality breast screening service to our clients.

This role supports work to improve the recruitment, retention and training for the breast imaging workforce and help to address a shortage of mammographers and associate practitioners in the South West.

Main duties of the job

What you will do:

  • Be a clinical expert in mammography and breast imaging and to work with staff in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge.
  • The post holder will spend a minimum of two days a week in the clinical area.
  • Lead and develop education and training for InHealth North & East Devon by planning and providing clinical skills training to radiographic staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date training records and to produce reports from this data for managers within InHealth North and East Devon Breast Screening Service
  • Demonstrate clinical leadership and act as a role model at all times. Reduce clinical risk and promote client safety through the development of educational programmes, assessment of clinical skills and clinical competencies of all allocated learners.
  • Support senior leadership in implementing the company procedure for managing staff performance.

What you are responsible for:

  • To mentor and provide clinical education and support to all trainee staff.
  • To provide greater access to high quality training and development within the company and in doing so improve retention as staff can see there are opportunities to develop and progress.
  • To link clinical education and practice and assist staff in bridging the gaps.
  • To develop evidence-based practice in the company under the guidance of the senior managers within North and East Devon Breast Screening Service to coach and support staff to develop their practice.

Salary:                  £41,659 - £47,672 pro rata

Hours:                  28.8 hours per week (part-time, working over 4 days)

  • Has a Post Graduate Award in Mammography (with a minimum of 4 years mammography experience)

  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
