Job summary
The role of the NHS Proton Data and Clinical Outcomes Lead/Advisor is to provide clinical leadership and clinical expertise at a national level for clinical data and a clinical outcomes programme within this highly complex and high-profile national service.
The National Proton Beam Therapy Service will be commissioned by the national Highly Specialised Commissioning team. there will be links to the Radiotherapy CRG. It will be intimately linked to the NHS Proton Registry.
The post will be for a period of 2 years (plus 1 year renewable) and is available for 0.2-0.4 WTE (or 2-4 PAs)

Main duties of the job
The specific tasks and lead responsibilities include:
• Facilitate an integrated approach to clinical trials, evaluative commissioning, and physics research within the clinical capacity of the NHS commissioned national PBT service
• Develop appropriate audit and clinical outcome tracking processes across the service
• Facilitate and lead output from the programme for clinical outcomes data for presentation and publication nationally and internationally
• Jointly chair the PBT data and governance committee
• Ensure robust IG processes for nationally held data
• Ensure that clinical outcomes data is produced and presented to evidence the benefits realisation goal of the programme
• Work to facilitate pre-commissioning evaluation (CtE) studies and any transition, depending on the study results into commissioning policies
• Establish links with other national PBT service developments abroad (particularly Europe, Australasia, Canada and the USA) to share good practice and maximise opportunities for audit and research
• Provide support and continuity, working with PBT National Clinical Lead and NHS Highly Specialist Commissioning Team
• Facilitate links to other national registries e.g., NHS Transplant, NCRAS, RTDS, British Skull Base Society and potentially low energy eye proton outcomes development
