Job summary
Specialised services support people with a range of rare and complex conditions. They often involve treatments provided to patients with rare cancers, genetic disorders or complex medical or surgical conditions.
We are now seeking applications from clinical professionals who are keen and ready to take on national leadership roles in Specialised Commissioning.
Most importantly, we are seeking individuals from a broad range of clinical disciplines and backgrounds, who can bring fresh thinking and innovative ideas, informed by recent experience of clinical delivery in NHS Specialised healthcare.

Main duties of the job
The arrangements for cancer include two Lead and Inform CRGs covering Radiotherapy and Children and Young Peoples Cancer and a Respond and Advise CRG covering Nuclear Medicine. In addition to these arrangements, a Cancer Clinical Advisory Group (CCAG) is being established to provide whole pathway advice to support the development and implementation of national cancer policy – the membership of this group will include Cancer Alliance clinical representatives as well as the National Speciality Advisors for Cancer CRGs. This group will, in turn, be supported by a group of National Clinical Leads, covering a number of cancer pathways and providing support, as required, to specialised commissioning, including providing advice to inform commissioning policy, national standards, or provide advice to support the provision of ministerial, parliamentary or media briefings, an on prioritisation and innovation.
The National Clinical Lead will be a credible senior clinical leader in the field of the identified clinical service and will provide expert clinical advice and leadership in relation to this service. They will be responsible to the National Clinical Director for cancer, who is also the clinical lead for the National Programme of Care within specialised commissioning, which the CCAG advises.
