Specialised
services support people with a range of rare and complex conditions. They often
involve treatments provided to patients with rare cancers, genetic disorders or
complex medical or surgical conditions.
We are now
seeking applications from clinical professionals who are keen and ready to take
on national leadership roles in Specialised Commissioning.
Most
importantly, we are seeking individuals from a broad range of clinical
disciplines and backgrounds, who can bring fresh thinking and innovative ideas,
informed by recent experience of clinical delivery in NHS Specialised
healthcare.

When

Main duties of the job
The National Clinical Lead will be a credible senior clinical leader in the field of the identified clinical service and will provide expert clinical advice and leadership in relation to this service. In particular, the National Clinical Lead will:
- Provide expert clinical advice to inform the planning and commissioning of specialised services
- Be a source of expert clinical advice to local systems and regions as and when they require it
- Support parliamentary accountability and provide ad hoc advice to NHS England in responding to parliamentary enquiries
The appointment, which is offered on a non-remunerated basis, is for a period of up to three years, with an annual review of progress. It is important that the clinical lead has the full support of their employer to be able to commit time, flexibly, to the advisory role.
