An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Patients Finance & Cashiering Co-ordinator within the NTW Solutions Patients Finance & Cashiering & Facilities Team based at St Nicholas Hospital.
Hours 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday)
Permanent Contract - NTW Solutions Band B.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will include:
To provide an effective and efficient high quality Patients Monies, Patients Property & Cashiering Service.
Dealing with patients and members of the public both face to face and over the telephone, who could be distressed or emotive.
To work as part of a team to ensure continuity of cashiering service processing patient's monies, petty cash, travel expenses.
To answer queries at the Cashiers counters, telephone and email enquiries and provide advice to patients, staff, and visitors.
To assist to ensure all Trust and Company income is banked in accordance with Trust and Company procedures including security assurance.
To input and co-ordinate the reimbursements of Patients Monies, Trust & NTW Solutions Petty Cash expenditure.
To update the Financial Ledger with the input of Financial journals.
To participate in all training as directed by the Line Manager.
This post may be required to travel to Trust main sites to provide cover and post holder must be flexible, a team worker and be able to change base at short notice.

Essential
- An understanding of the law as it relates to: Patients' monies and property, Executorship, Wills, Probate, Intestate estates, Appointeeship, The Office of the Public Guardian, Lasting power of attorney, Advance decisions, Capacity
- This includes the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act, Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
- An up to date knowledge of the Department for Work and Pensions' benefits and processes.
- An understanding of internal controls, e.g. segregation of duties.
- A good working knowledge of computerised accounting systems.
- An awareness of relevant parts of the Company's, Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs) and Financial Procedure Notes (FPNs) and an awareness of the remainder of the documents.
- An understanding of the Banking Code of Practice.
- An awareness of the law as it relates to financial transactions and external relationships including debtors, creditors, charities, NHS Company's and companies.
- An understanding of the importance of accurate financial information and confidentiality.
- Good understanding of financial procedures and accounting systems.
- Excellent IT Skills, including being proficient in the use of Excel.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- Able to interpret and analyse routine financial information and investigate queries.
- Must be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post.

- At least 2 years relevant experience (e.g. Patient's Finance, Finance, Social Services, Department of Work & Pensions, legal etc) preferably in the NHS.
- Experience of computerised finance systems, including data input and processing experience.
- Experienced in use of Microsoft Office software particularly Excel.
Qualifications

- AAT technician level or equivalent experience.
- In exceptional circumstances, progressing towards the necessary qualification.
