Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within NTW Solutions Ltd, in the role of Operational Estates Manager.

The suitably experienced and qualified professional will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates team across several main sites covering the North East and Cumbria.

Reporting to the Head of Estates, the post holder will be responsible for the operational management of the estate across the South Sector and a number of smaller community properties where services are delivered. The post holder will also be working alongside colleagues in the delivery of a capital investment and development programme.

Main duties of the job

This post includes responsibility for engineering and building operation and maintenance across a range of properties, staff leadership, managing backlog maintenance, providing advice and guidance on statutory requirements throughout the Trust and ensuring required standards are achieved. Our focus at all times is on the safe and efficient provision of an estates service to support the delivery of World class healthcare and an excellent patient experience.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a proven track record of achievement in managing within an estates environment and possess excellent people management skills, knowledge and experience of managing a diverse portfolio and a drive to provide outstanding quality services and facilities for our clients. You must be confident in working with professionals at all levels and be a proactive, committed member of the team.

  • Extensive knowledge of NHS Health care buildings, systems and managements and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of specialist NHS related practices and procedures.
  • Specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and practice.

  • Experience and thorough understanding of the inter-relationship between various disciplines that make up the Estates department, including; Building, Engineering, Energy, Specialist Services, Grounds and Gardens and Project Management and ensure they interact with non-estates staff.
  • Knowledge and experience of effective management of significant budgets.

  • Professional knowledge acquired through an appropriate technical degree or equivalent specialist knowledge and significant experience across a breadth of estates technical and managerial areas that can be clearly evidenced.
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate courses and experience to Masters level or equivalent all in an estates related subject area.
  • Corporate membership (or working towards) of an appropriate institution (CIBSE, IHEEM etc).
  • Evidence of Post-graduate specialist courses.
