Job summary

We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to join our busy procurement team. In this role, you will lead on the identification and delivery of high-profile complex procurement projects across the Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust Group. Through these projects, you will demonstrate and deliver value for money and innovation whilst meeting the needs of the organisation.Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will support the development and delivery of the Procurement Strategy and national procurement agendas. You will undertake high value competitive tenders, manage complex contracts, produce procurement options appraisals/ recommendation reports, contribute to business cases, and provide strategic procurement advice to stakeholders and colleagues.

As one of the largest mental health and disability trusts in England, the focus of procurement is across a broad range of categories from corporate services, temporary and permanent staffing, ICT hardware and software, soft and hard facilities management, commodities, capital works programmes etc.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, approachable, and organised individual who can build relationships and deliver an excellent customer focused service to our stakeholders and colleagues. You should be a team player who is happy to assist and support others.

As a strong influencer and an experienced negotiator, you will proactively challenge current practices and strive to deliver continuous improvement, offering better patient experiences and outcomes through effective market testing of expenditure.

You will be MCIPS qualified with a track record of delivering positive commercial outcomes.

As a large complex organisation, the procurement team are often tasked with reacting to new developments and changing priorities, so you will need to be well organised, resilient, and adaptable. You will need excellent analytical and research skills, attention to detail and be able to act on your own initiative.

This is a new post and is being introduced to increase our ability to offer strategic procurement support to the organisation.

The role will be based at our St Nicholas Hospital Site, though there is likely to be an opportunity for hybrid working (home and office) subject to agreement with manager/ operational requirements. Visits and meetings at other CNTW group sites may be required - https://www.cntw.nhs.uk/locations/.
