CHAW PCN have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technicians to work across GP practices to work across our PCN which covers practices across Chelford, Handforth, Alderley Edge, and Wilmslow. This is an evolving job role with huge scope for development as we expand our PCN team further over 2023/24.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our PCN. The successful candidate will play an important role in complementing our Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and prescribing support administrators who work alongside the wider practice team and help implement our integrated model of prescribing support. The successful candidate will share our values and have the energy, skills and enthusiasm to contribute to shaping how we support our patients.
We expect the successful candidate to contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive primary care medicines management system acting on current best practice / service change requests from our clinical commissioning group. The Pharmacy Technician will be required to undertake activities predominantly at a practice level, but will need to be flexible to work to the wider demands of the network.
Full time and part time (minimum 20 hours per week) working patterns will be considered.

Main duties of the job
The main duties include the safe processing of repeat medication requests, issuing prescriptions following specific checks (which may include reviewing blood results, checking patients INR, checking any QOF coding is accurate and up to date) and dealing with patient requests.
Prescription requests are receive by patient access or written requests and the volume of workload is addressed within 48 hours. We encourage Electronic Prescribing with patients. You can expect to receive hospital discharges, hospital letters and medication recommendations for review and action. You will inform patients when blood tests/BP checks/medication reviews are due and keep their electronic notes up to date accordingly.
Our Pharmacy Technicians currently also have telephone consultations for patients with medication queries, and support the prescribing duty doctor with requests. You will liaise regularly with clinicians in secondary care, either initiated by yourself, GP or patient. You will initiate practice policies to ensure safe prescribing and will have very close link with the GPs, with a dedicated time slot each day to discuss queries and assist with decisions over patient care.
It is a requirement of the role to be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician. We are seeking a candidate preferably with understanding of and previous experience of working in primary care, use of EMIS web, and demonstrate you can study for CPPE courses.
