We are recruiting a GP Educator to join the team at the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub!
This is an exciting opportunity in which you will make a real impact within Primary Care.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for GP educator(s) within our region to work with the Workforce and Training Hub in:
- Developing and delivering a fellowship programme for newly qualified GPs working in practices and/or
- Supporting the delivery of a preceptorship programme for newly qualified physician associates working in general practice
The successful applicant will work with the Primary Care Workforce and Training Team or other partners in the area. These may include ICS, CCG, GP federations, or primary care networks. This may involve working on service development and/or education and training initiatives.
The hours of work will be 2 sessions (8 hours and 20 minutes) per week.
This role is a maternity leave cover.
Main duties of the job
The hub exists to ensure we invest in primary care workforce effectively to address skill-mix requirements and inequities in provision of quality primary care services.
We have been funded to deliver two new programmes across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw;
- Newly qualified GP Fellowship Programme
This programme announced as part of GP contract aims to support newly qualified GPs (in first two years post CCT) in substantive posts in practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and co-ordinating a educational and support programme The programme will focus on non-clinical skills, post CCT clinical skills, and the development of peer support.
2. Physician Associate Preceptorship programme
This programme aims to support the development of newly qualified PAs working in general practices or for primary care networks. The programme aims to provide mentorship and support in a structured format to Physician Associates entering Primary Care to assist them in managing the transition from mainly secondary care based student into primary care clinical post qualification professional.
The GP Educator will work alongside a PA educator to develop and deliver the programme. Both roles will be supported by and responsible to the PCWTH GP director.

The Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub forms part of the wider workforce hub for the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System. The main aim of the hub is to support the growth and development of a resilient primary care workforce for the region, including; increasing the capacity of learning placements, promoting inter-professional education, facilitating the use of workforce tools for planning, retention and succession, supporting the safe introduction of new and emerging roles and developing initiatives to support practices to build their future workforce.
This role is available as a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.

- Innovative ideas and ability to develop / implement these

- Knowledge of current strategic documents
Experience

- Post CCT clinical experience in general practice
- Experience of supervision and/or training of undergraduate or postgraduate learners in primary care setting
Desirable
- Further experience in healthcare education e.g F2 tutor, GP trainer, undergraduate small group tutor
