We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Service Manager to join our operational team at Eccleshill Treatment Centre/Shipley. The Band 7 role will support the Senior Management Team to deliver high-quality patient services across designated clinical specialties.

The post holder will be responsible for operational delivery, staff management, financial oversight, and performance monitoringcontributing to both day-to-day service management and strategic planning.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the operational management of designated clinical specialties.

  • Work in collaboration with senior clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient services.

  • Line manage administrative and clerical teams to ensure performance, development, and engagement.

  • Monitor and report on activity and performance data, ensuring compliance with national and local targets (e.g., RTT and cancer standards).

  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of service plans and business cases.

  • Support the delivery of cost-effective services by managing budgets and resources efficiently.

  • Deputise for the Assistant Director of Operations as required.

  • Participate in audit, complaints investigations, and governance activities to maintain and improve quality of care.

Job responsibilities

Primary Duties

Works closely with the speciality leads and nursing team to ensure day to day operational management of the designated specialties.

In collaboration with the Senior Management Team ensure the operational delivery of services; leading and effectively implementing change management initiatives to improve service provision.

To work with the Senior Management Team to ensure that within all specific work areas all local and national performance targets and objectives are met.

Makes judgements involving complex facts or situations requiring analysis, interpretation and the comparison of a range of options resulting in differing expert opinions and conflict, e.g. managing clinical risks, agreeing strategies to meet patient access targets, changing working practices.

Assisting with the development, monitoring and delivery of business and service plans in line with Business and National policies and targets.

Ensures administration processes support efficient patient pathways.

To effectively and efficiently administer and maintain accurate data within all relevant IT systems. The systems could include PAS Patient Administration System, and or other local IT systems that record essential clinical and personal information about patients databases, internet, and email.

To identify and escalate any perceived risks to the delivery of the agreed standards or other performance measures.

Work with the Senior management Team Operational Support officer to ensure relevant data submissions are validated and submitted within required timescales.

Works in partnership with organisation colleagues and other organisation Teams and external agencies to ensure high quality patient care is delivered within Business frameworks and that the Businesss short to medium term objectives are delivered.

Delegated responsibility for the management of resources -human resource, estate, financial.

Deputises for the Assistant Director, as directed.

Leadership

Support effective team working within the specialty and across the organisation .

Leads and motivates staff in the delivery of quality patient care across complex clinical and business environments and services.

To ensure delivery of the Businesss appraisal system within the defined areas of responsibility.

Assists in disciplinary and grievance processes including investigations.

Service Development

Contributes to the service development agenda by identifying and assessing strategic options e.g. service redesign; capacity and demand management; financial planning and quality improvement.

Works as part of the Senior Management Team to identify proposals which support the delivery of the Businesss strategic objectives.

Assisting with the development of business cases whether for changes to service, new equipment or new posts which impact in the specialty or across the organisation.

Participates in the organisations involvement of patients and representative groups in service planning and development.

Understands RTT and Cancer waiting lists, to support the delivery of key constitutional standards.

Assists the Assistant Director in the development and monitoring of Service Level Agreements for services provided by or to other Organisations.

Contributes to Business wide activities taking a lead responsibility for selected pieces of work

Manages the integration of a variety of resources to deliver patient pathways and agreed targets

Assists in the development of and monitors activity plans for the organisation, making adjustments as necessary.

Assists with policy development across the organisation relevant to local area e.g. Operational Resilience, Winter Plan, National Service Frameworks.

Assists in the identification of information needs of the organisation and ensures the accuracy and use of information related to patient processes.

Produces reports and proposals, including spread sheets, some of which are complex and involve bids for additional funding from Commissioners.

Governance and Quality

Support the Specialty Lead and Matron to ensure that quality standards for the Specialty are implemented, including the monitoring of performance, quality assurance and implementation of audit procedures and complaints procedures.

Support the Specialty Lead and Nursing Team in the delivery of risk management and governance processes.
