Job summary
NCGPA are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, flexible, and highly organised person to work within the Primary Care Network (PCN) Team. This is a new and multifaceted role supporting the PCN with the delivery of the Direct Enhanced Service Contract (PCN DES), through the provision as a PCN Care Co-ordinator Phlebotomist. This is a patient facing role within front line NHS services.
From 1st April 2022 employees will be required to either be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 or have a valid health exemption certificate.
Main duties of the job
• Take blood samples at varying locations in BACHS PCN. In line with blood request forms issued by clinicians.
• Ensure that phlebotomy practice is carried out effectively and efficiently in line with practice, procedures and guidelines.
• Work with the GPs and other primary care professionals within the PCN to identify and manage a caseload of patients, and where required and as appropriate, refer people back to other health professionals within the PCN
• Ensure patient information is kept confidential at all times.
• Understand the clinical requirements for blood samples and relay as appropriate to patients to ensure quality of sample.
• Act as mentor to other phlebotomists and professionals taking blood samples.
• Ability to cope with varying workload.
• At all times ensure that own actions support and promote equality, diversity and the rights of the public and colleagues.
• Report hazards to a senior member of staff to promote health and safety of patients, the public and staff.
• Working on own initiative whilst remaining within the limitations of the role, responding to situation that could affect the ability of the service to deliver a full service.
• Be willing to participate (if required) in 7 day working pattern, this includes regular weekend working.

Nottingham City General Practice Alliance (NCGPA) was formed in 2016. We are Nottingham city’s first GP Federation, often referred to as NCGPA or the Alliance. Our members consist of 45 NHS GP practices in Nottingham city, who cover a population of over 336,000 patients.
NCGPA is a Company Limited by shares, with its member practices being equal shareholders. The company is managed by a board of 8 elected representatives from member GP practices and three co-opted positions representing nursing, lay and non-principal GPs. The day to day running of the company is through a Senior Management team comprising the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer along with the Company’s Chief Operating Officer and a dedicated office team. As a federation, we promote, support and facilitate the collaboration of GPs and their workforce throughout our city. Examples of our work to date include developing networks whereby tasks and resources can be shared, empowering frontline practice staff to become ‘active Signposters’ for their patient communities and launching GP+, the city’s first ever evening and weekend GP service.
NCGPA also holds the contract for the management and operation of 3 GP Practices in the city: Bilborough Medical Centre, Grange Farm and Parliament Street Medical Centre
