Job summary
Nottingham
City GP Alliance (NCGPA) is looking for enthusiastic motivated candidates to
work with the General Practice salaried staff team at 2 of our practice sites,
Grange Farm Medical Centre and Bilborough Medical Centre. The clinical lead
will be supported by senior clinical colleagues at NCGPA to provide clinical
and leadership support to their colleagues at the practice sites. They will be
instrumental in crafting the service provision offer to these cohorts of
disadvantaged patients, ensuring they have access to high quality care and
service delivery.
The
role can be combined with additional clinical sessions at the practice to embed
the role and team approach within each service. We are planning for 2 clinical
lead sessions per week per site, including options to merge the roles across
both sites for the right candidate.
The
lead will link with other NCGPA service clinical leads in its leadership
network, which will provide peer support and close liaison between services and
NCGPA.

Main duties of the job
The
main duties will be working with and supporting the clinical team, ensuring
the right role is done by the right person, a truly multidisciplinary approach.
The lead will provide clinical support to colleagues. They will support the
team approach in developing appropriate work areas such as, Safeguarding, Long
Term Conditions work streams, sexual health etc. A key role will be empowering
the team to develop multidisciplinary leads for key areas (particularly the CQC
patient groups of Children & Young
People, Families, Working Age People, Older
People, Vulnerable Groups), whilst retaining a strategy overview of the
practice. The post will include fulfilling the Caldicott Guardian function for
the practice.
The lead will also work closely with the Practice Management Team on:
-Capacity
analysis and management - developing an overview of workload capacity and
evolving an appropriate service level and skills mix to meet the needs of the
population served.
-Operational
management of capacity and workload and supporting day to day delivery as required.
-Forging
strong links with the Practice Manager and Service Leads.
-Supporting
the clinicians in the clinical areas of practice and in their ongoing
professional development.
-Providing
an interface between the practice and the NCGPA senior clinical leadership team.
-Representing
the practice to other local health organisations such the their PCN and the CCG.

General Practice Alliance (NCGPA) was formed in 2016. We are Nottingham citys
first GP Federation, often referred to as NCGPA or the Alliance. Our members
consist of 45 NHS GP practices in Nottingham city, who cover a population of
over 336,000 patients.

comprising the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer along with the Companys Chief

Patient care: Accountable
for clinical standards of patient care, including quality assurance.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate systems & procedures are embedded to
deliver safe, caring effective medical care. Responsible for working with the
appropriate bodies to ensure adherence to professional standards.
Workforce: Responsible
for developing the skills and knowledge of the clinical workforce. Responsible
for overseeing and supporting the development of all clinicians, taking account
of their varied status and professional requirements.
Clinical strategy: Accountable for clinical advice to the NCGPA Board & COO and to
jointly lead clinical strategy within General Practice. The individual will
advise and contribute to future service developments and expanding the business
in line with core values, in line with local commissioning intentions and
national policy.
Corporate leadership: Work with the NCGPA Board & COO, Head of Practice Provision/the
Service Manager and the clinical workforce to develop and embed a distributed
model of clinical leadership and a culture of continuous improvement, in the
best interests of the people we serve.
Caldicott Guardian: The post holder will fulfil the Caldicott Guardian function and work
with the NCGPA Board, COO, Head of Practice Provision, and the Service Manager to
provide expert advice and support in connection with all aspects of clinical
quality, safety, governance, effectiveness and efficiency of services. This will include workforce development,
education and training of the clinical/GP workforce.
