30 hours a week (up to full time hours of 37.5 per week will also be considered)

Salary £35,200 per annum (WTE £44,000 based on 37.5 hours)

Location: Farnham, Guildford, and surrounding areas.

Phyllis Tuckwell is looking to appoint a Clinical Trainer to work within our Education team. We are looking for an experienced registered nurse who has a passion for learning and development, enjoys training and shares the values of continuous learning and development.

Main duties of the job

The role encompasses supporting the effective planning and delivery of both internal and external blended training, learning and education programmes, supporting, and motivating others, and being a resource disseminating knowledge and skills in palliative and end of life care to influence safe and effective clinical care for local health and social care professionals.

Job responsibilities

To support the Clinical Education Manager, and the Clinical Educator and Practice Development colleagues in the effective planning of Phyllis Tuckwells Education Programme, in line with the Clinical Education Strategy, facilitating the integration of theory into clinical practice.

To help deliver education and training programmes in palliative and end of life care aligning to the end-of-life care strategy for Phyllis Tuckwells (PT) clinicians and therapists, and the local community health and social care professionals, within Guildford, Waverley, Surrey Heath, NE Hampshire and Farnham areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.0Professional

1.1 To work with the Clinical Education Manager and other Clinical Education team members in designing and delivering education sessions in palliative and end of life care inclusive of symptom management, for PT clinicians and local external health care professionals.

1.2 To work in conjunction with the Phyllis Tuckwell Clinical Education Manager and Clinical Education leads to ensure that the quality and standard of the teaching programmes is maintained, and the content is regularly reviewed with colleagues subject to participant feedback and needs.

1.3 To work as part of the training team assisting with the planning and content of e- learning modules within PT Training Tracker.

1.4 Assist with the design of lesson plans and presentations to encompass varied teaching / learning styles, with a facilitative approach to encourage a learning environment with discussion and rationalising evidence-based practice.

1.5 Review evaluations and feedback, and action accordingly in discussion with the education team.

1.6 To be aware of the relevance of information technology (IT) and its use within the delivery of education e.g. blended learning.

1.7 Work with Phyllis Tuckwell Service Leads to help embed a training culture to disseminate knowledge and skills and learn from feedback as part of service improvement.

1.8 To be a specialist resource providing leadership through the provision of sharing expert up to date evidence-based knowledge in palliative and end of life care.

1.9 Demonstrate enhanced communication skills to empower health care professional development within a safe environment.

1.10 Work in partnership with external education leads to identify shared provision of learning and training materials.

1.11 To maintain own professional registration, to keep abreast of current practices and to identify personal training and development needs.

1.12 To observe and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct including the Administration of Medicines, Record Keeping, Guidelines for Clinical Practice and Revalidation requirements.

1.13 In conjunction with other Leads, to review and update clinical policies and guidelines in line with best practice.

2.0Clinical

2.1 Maintain current clinical knowledge and skills to inform teaching and training, through working as a member of PT multidisciplinary team.

2.2 Through autonomous practice to coach health and social care professionals across care settings to embed learning into practice.

2.3 To abide by the principles of clinical and information governance prioritising patient and staff safety.

2.4 To network with other external organisations identifying training and learning needs.

3.0Training and Development

Team:

3.1 To help foster a culture of lifelong learning amongst health and social care professionals.

3.2 To facilitate opportunities for reflective practice, promoting an environment where learning can occur from experiences and feedback.

3.3 To support the Care Certificate and Preceptorship programme for relevant staff within PT, facilitating the individual through ongoing assessment and feedback.

3.4 To support the development of health care assistants wishing to undertake Nursing Associate training.

3.5 To work with other senior PT clinicians e.g. Clinical Nurse Specialists, to deliver the external clinical education programme.

3.6 To be an active member of Phyllis Tuckwells Education Department, reviewing the educational needs of all staff members in conjunction with the Clinical Education team.

Self:

3.7 To address personal and professional development using the PT Annual Performance Review System.

3.8 To be responsible for accessing support/supervision/coaching to underpin the role.

4.0Research

4.1 To participate in audit and research as appropriate within the PT environment, encouraging staff participation.

4.2 To implement findings of evidence-based practice.
