As a Community Children's Support Worker for Caremark Rotherham & Sheffield you will play a crucial role in supporting the wellbeing, development, and care of your clients who live within the community

This role involves supporting children who may have physical and learning disabilities, complex and clinical needs to lead an independent life.

Main duties of the job

We have opportunities for people who are non-experienced and experienced within the care sector. Due to the preferences of our clients, we are currently recruiting for female Children Support Workers who must be able to drive, with their own vehicle and business insurance.

For our support workers to succeed in their role we nurture our staff in becoming the best they can be. We develop their skills and knowledge which are appreciated and recognised throughout your employment with us.

You will be a pivotal part of supporting your specific clients with achieving their personal goals and supporting them to undertake activities they enjoy, on a one to one or two to one support.

Your role as a Community Support Worker will be supporting your regular clients to undertake daily living activities such as personal care, nutrition & hydration needs, moving & handling and enabling them to achieve their personal goals and attributions

About us

The roles available are for DAYS & NIGHTS. The hours of work are from 4 hours-12 hours at any one time. The availability you provide to Caremark will be required to remain the same throughout your employment to ensure our clients receive consistency with their Support team.

It is essential all successful applicants are able to work alternate weekends (Saturday & Sunday).

Summary of role

To share with other staff in meeting the personal care and support needs of customers in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes their independence. The care and support provided by Care and Support Workers is expected to include support that would reasonably be given by members of the clients family and is not to include tasks that would normally be undertaken by a trained nurse.

Principal responsibilities

To assist clients who need help getting up and going to bed in the morning and evenings, including dressing and undressing, washing, bathing and going to the toilet.

To help clients with their mobility and with any physical disabilities, including incontinence and use of personal aids and equipment.

To support clients out in the community such as trips shopping, to the cinema or other day trips.

To care for clients who are temporarily sick and need bed nursing and help with feeding etc.

To provide care and support for clients who may be terminally ill.

To help in the promotion of mental and physical activities of clients through talking, outings, reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.

To make and change beds, light cleaning, emptying commodes and general tidying.

To support clients within school or educational settings.

To support clients with tracheostomy care, PEG care and other complex health conditions where applicable.

To prepare and serve light meals, clearing away and washing up.

To read and write reports and be involved in clients reviews and training activities.

To adhere to all Caremarks policies and procedures at all times.

To report either to the Case Leader or Care Manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a client.

To encourage the independence of clients wherever possible.
