An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Physiotherapist to join our growing Therapy team at Fielbday. We are looking for a Physiotherapist to work with our MDT to deliver high quality therapy to service users with complex needs due to mental health conditions, brain injury, neurological disorders and learning disabilities. A varied caseload and freedom to work in a person centred way will be suitable for Physios with a wide range of experience, however we will be happy to support newly qualified Physios with in house training and mentorship as well.

Purpose of Job:

To provide a physiotherapy service to service users within our homes, undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for caseload working without direct supervision.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the assessment, treatment and management of Service Users with complex or difficult presentations that require sensitivity for successful intervention. To show an understanding of risks involved and ensure a high standard of care.

2. Contribute to the clinical diagnosis and determine appropriate and individualised physiotherapy treatment.

3. Liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and attend relevant case reviews. Maintain good communication and working arrangements with Primary Care Trusts and other agencies.

4. Efficiently manage own clinical caseload within timescales and clinical priority seeking advice and support from senior staff where appropriate.

5. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of the work in accordance with the Chartered Physiotherapists Code of Practice.

6. Ensure that valid consent is agreed with the Service Users working within the legal framework. This involves a full explanation of the outcome of the assessment and evaluating the Service Users understanding of the proposed treatment options and then agreeing treatment plans and goals.

8. Responsible for all treatment records, correspondence and reports relating to individual patient caseload in accordance with Fieldbay documentation standards, ensuring these are regularly reviewed and revised as appropriate.

9. Provide specialised advice, either spontaneous or planned, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.

10. Responsible for ensuring Continuing Professional Development and maintenance of a portfolio, which reflects development of specialist skills and knowledge.

11. Undertake measurement and evaluation of work and current practice through audit and outcome measures. Make recommendations for change, as appropriate, and incorporate as necessary into individual work.

12. Demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management.

13. Ensuring that equipment is used safely.

14. Comply with Fieldbay Policies and Procedures, and contribute in reviewing and updating, as appropriate.

15. Undertake any necessary skills training, professional updates and mandatory training as appropriate to the post and as directed.

16. Examines medical reports and assesses patient to determine the condition of muscles, nerves or joints in need of treatment;

17. Writes up patients case notes and reports, maintains their records and manages caseload;

18. Plans and undertakes therapy to improve circulation, restore joint mobility, strengthen muscles and reduce pain;

19. Explains treatment to and instructs patient in posture and other exercises and adapts treatment as necessary;

20. Offers advice and education on how to avoid injury and promote patients future health and well-being;

21. Supervises physiotherapy assistants;

22. Monitors patients progress and liaises with others concerned with the treatment and rehabilitation of patient, and refers patients requiring other specific medical attention.
