Main duties of the job

Isabella's Homes Limited is recruiting a 1.0 WTE Team Leader to be based in our Dudley Team.A team leader plays a crucial role in guiding a team of support workers towards their goals by providing direction and motivation, organising and delegating tasks, and ensuring effective communication. You will support the team by offering necessary resources and training, monitoring performance, and conducting reviews. Leading by example for upholding the company values and handle administrative duties, including managing schedules and maintaining documentation. In strategic planning, you will contribute to goal setting and use performance data to inform future strategies. Additionally, foster team cohesion through team-building activities and promoting a collaborative culture.

As a Team Leader, you will lead a team of Support Workers to deliver a bespoke and person-centred support plans for an individual with mental health and/or learning disabilities that display challenging behaviours and complex needs. You will play a lead role in ensuring a therapeutic environment is provided and maintained that promotes choice, wellbeing and the promotion of an independent lifestyle for the People We Support. You will also play a key role in developing the potential of the Support Workers and helping them reach the next stages of their careers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:Lead, supervise, and support a team of support workers, ensuring they provide excellent care and support to clients.
  • Client Support:Develop and implement individualised support plans in collaboration with clients, their families, and other professionals.
  • Quality Assurance:Monitor and maintain high standards of care in line with company policies and CQC regulatory requirements.
  • Training & Development:Identify training needs and opportunities for staff development, ensuring continuous professional growth.
  • Administrative Duties:Manage rotas, oversee the completion of accurate records and reports, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Communication:Act as a key point of contact for clients, families, and external agencies, fostering strong and effective communication.

Main Job Duties

  • To lead, manage and develop a team of support workers and act as a champion for service users safety and dignity.
  • To organise, support and be responsible for their team of Support Workers in their general daily work.
  • Act as a role model for good clinical and care governance practice.
  • To conduct supervisions, observations, welfare checks and provide a thorough induction process into the supported living house of new support workers during their shadowing period. Continue with all existing support staff once they finished probationary periods.
  • To effectively plan and deploy staff according to their assessed needs, planning and covering for senior and support workers during sickness, urgent appointments and holiday periods.
  • To lead on implementing safeguarding policy and practice in the locality by completing investigations, reviews and supervisions to ensure all staff provide a robust safeguarding protocols.
  • Represent the supported living service at external and internal meetings.
  • To ensure the health and safety of service users; to report any health and safety issues or equipment failures to the manager. To manage the day to day risks and implement safety measures for staff to follow according to their daily tasks or activities.
  • Promote the professional image of the services through excellent communication, appropriate behaviour and professional appearance.
  • Maintain skills and knowledge and ensure that care is delivered according to the latest guidelines and best practice evidence is available.
  • To carry out Internal and external observations for all senior support staff minimum of every month. New starters must have these carried out every week. Documented and actions in place.
  • To provide Manager On-Call service.
  • To adhere to all company Policies and Procedures ensuring all updated information is followed.
  • Understand the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act (2019) and Deprivation of Liberty Safegaurds (2008) in relation to consent and best interest decision making. (Soon to be renamed Liberty Protection Safeguards. LPS)
  • Responsible for managing the service users budgets and auditing the service users finance records.
  • Plan and implement the transition of new service users, to review support plans and update during their first two weeks. Ensuring all risk assessments are in place.
  • Maintain positive and reliable contact with family, carers or service users within the supported living, ensuring the provision of regular feedback, information and opportunities for involvement in their life.
  • Investigate complaints, concerns or incidents, record findings and instigate appropriate actions and to report to Senior Management Team as well as any other relevant agency (e.g. CQC, OFSTED, LA safeguarding teams).
  • Responsible for managing auditing the senior support worker are maintaining the motability cars in accordance to the Motability scheme
