Located just two miles from Lincoln's city centre, The Laurels neurological rehabilitation service provides accommodation for 12 adult residents. The facility is fully adapted for wheelchair access and boasts en-suite bathrooms, a therapy room, training kitchen, and a community garden.
At The Laurels, we specialise in supporting patients with acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury, severe neurological conditions, complex stroke, and spinal cord injury.
Our interdisciplinary team is composed of skilled professionals, including a Rehabilitation Consultant, Neuropsychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, work together to develop person-centred, evidence-based rehabilitation care plans that aim to maximise independence and recovery.
We deliver high-quality and intensive neurological rehabilitation. Our comprehensive approach includes physical, cognitive, functional, and vocational assessments, along with behavioural management and complex disability assessments for adults.

What you'll be working:
This role is 7.5 hours per week with days and times to be agreed.
What you'll be doing:
In this role you will deliver a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service, managing and prioritising a caseload of patients with highly complex speech, language and communication impairments and swallowing difficulties. Using evidence-based patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, that complement working in a specialist inpatient neurological rehabilitation unit.
The post-holder will:
- Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights
- Manage a small caseload, providing goal-focused, intensive MDT therapy in a person-centred, meaningful way
- Further develop your skills and knowledge working with clients who have complex cognitive-communication, language and speech disorders following brain injury, both 1:1 and in small therapy groups
- Be supported to develop your specialist clinical skills across the spectrum of brain injury presentations. This might include working with patients who have prolonged disorders of consciousness, or require a tracheostomy, AAC or supporting clients to return to work or study
- Continually develop your own clinical and leadership skills through a wide range of supervision, learning and teaching opportunities, both internally and externally
- Receive excellent clinical support and supervision with frequent opportunities for joint working within the Interdisciplinary Team
