We have an incredible opportunity for an Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our caring and friendly Occupational Therapy team at Moorpark Place, situated in the peaceful and stunning Kilbirnie, North Ayrshire.

Job responsibilities

Moorpark Place is a specialist service designed for up to 25 adults on the Autistic Spectrum, some of whom may exhibit challenging behaviours. What makes Moorpark Place truly special and unique extends beyond its scenic setting; it's the exceptional care provided to each resident that sets it apart.

Our community at Moorpark Place comprises 25 individual houses, where each resident has their own home set within the expansive grounds.The site is part of Active Care Groups LD and Social Care Clinical Network, comprising of over twenty sites nationally, where expertise is shared within a group governance framework, ensuring the highest standards of care/

Residents at Moorpark Place benefit from personalised staffing ratios (1:1 or 2:1) based on their individual needs. Our dedicated staff provide daily support with tasks, community activities, and the development of independent living skills. Additionally, residents receive specialized support from our on-site Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, and Speech and Language Therapist.

There is a communal gym with a gym instructor, conservatory, sunken trampoline and swing, plus a walled, sensory garden. There are regular community activities and residents are often seen socialising in the grounds.

The environment at Moorpark Place is designed to enhance residents' well-being, with facilities such as a communal gym with a gym instructor, a conservatory, a sunken trampoline and swing, and a walled sensory garden. Regular community activities promote socialisation, and the tranquil surroundings contribute to a calm atmosphere.

At Moorpark Place, residents actively participate in developing their own care plans and shaping the way they live. Our ambition is to empower each individual to become more confident and independent, learning new skills that enrich their lives. What you'll be working:

This role is 27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with days and times to be agreed.

What you'll be doing:

Keep people safe from harm and protect their human rights.

Support residents in developing their domestic, self-care, social, work, or leisure skills under the guidance and supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist

Attend and contribute to meetings and clinical discussions as appropriate

Take responsibility for planning and facilitating specific therapeutic groups under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist

Accompany patients on social and therapeutic outings as requested, in line with the Mental Health Act.

Take responsibility for the planning and organisation of specific technical programmes, e.g., cooking, with minimal supervision from a qualified Occupational Therapist

Assist in selected recreational and social programmes for individuals and groups as guided by a qualified Occupational Therapist
