Main duties of the job

As a Maintenance Operative at Avery Healthcare in Newcastle under Lyme, you will be responsible for ensuring the building and grounds are well-maintained. Your duties will include carrying out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs, supporting new residents to arrange their rooms, undertaking routine re-decoration, and advising on the supply and quality of items. You will also provide an out-of-hours emergency service and participate in the on-call rota. To be successful in this role, you should have at least one year of experience in a general maintenance or handyperson role, hold a full driving license, and have knowledge of health and safety, particularly moving and handling techniques, fire safety, and COSHH assessments.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
  • Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
  • Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
  • Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
  • Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.
