Night Health Care Assistant

Care home with Nursing

£9.00ph + Paid Break

Full Time Contract

Waterlooville

Unique shift pattern work only 7 days in every 14-day period

In light of the recent coronavirus outbreak and with everyones health being Cornerstones priority at the moment, all candidates who are scheduled to come onsite to our home for an interview have the option to either do a Skype interview or telephone conversation initially.

This role involves the care of vulnerable adults with complex mental and physical health needs. Cornerstone Healthcare is committed to safeguarding and promoting the health and welfare of our residents. All staff are expected to share this commitment.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support the senior healthcare assistant with daily tasks as per shift plans
  • Work as part of the clinical team in delivering needs of the service
  • Provide planned personal care for residents under the direction of a senior healthcare assistant
  • Report on residents condition to registered nursing staff

Main Duties

  • Assist residents with routine day-to-day personal care (e.g. personal hygiene, eating and drinking, skin care and assisting residents with their mobility), referring any non-routine observations to the Nurse in charge.
  • Assist residents to fulfil their social, psychological, recreational or occupational needs as identified in their care plans.
  • Carry out safe moving and handling practice, on a daily basis for residents in accordance with planned programmes of care and Cornerstone policies, using appropriate manual handling equipment as prescribed by the Nurse in charge, e.g. hoists, wheelchairs, turning aids.
  • Develop and establish meaningful rapport with residents and their relatives/relatives and demonstrate an awareness of individual resident needs.
  • Motivate and negotiate with residents to maximise treatment outcomes where necessary.
  • Adhere to Cornerstone standards, protocols, policies and procedures and contribute to the process of benchmarking clinical practice
  • Ensure own approach to resident care respects the residents privacy and dignity at all times, including a respect for resident choice.
