Introduction
to the role
The position of
Senior Care Assistant is the linchpin between the care and nursing staff. You
are the glue that ensure the teams work together seamlessly to deliver
outstanding care to everyone.
You will report
directly to the Registered Nurse on shift, and you will play an active role in
clinical governance and medication management. This requires a keen eye for
details and the ability to give clear instructions to those on shift.
The
position is a physically and mentally challenging role that requires you to
give personal care to the individual. This includes all aspects of personal
care.
You will be an
ambassador of Orchard Care Homes, liaising with GPs, health professionals and
the residents families and friends, always promoting a professional and caring
image of the home. Via our Orchard Academy, you will receive bespoke training
and receive support to develop your leadership skills, clinical knowledge and
become an advocate for our leading dementia services.

based on individual ability with all aspects of personal care including
toileting, bathing etc. following individual care plans carefully and ensuring
that all contact is polite, friendly, warm and supportive. To act as a key
worker for a named group of residents, ensuring that care is delivered in line
with residents personal needs and preferences.

To always be alert to
residents physical and mental well-being, immediately reporting any changes in
a residents condition to a senior person on duty, and to accurately maintain
and update residents records as required.
Be understanding and
patient towards residents and their needs, to encourage and support residents
to participate in leisure activities as appropriate to the individual and their
preferences, ensuring their social and emotional needs are met. This also
includes supporting residents to outside appointments and leisure outings.
Responsible for making
and changing beds, tidying residents rooms (with the residents permission)
undertaking light cleaning duties as needed and generally assisting in ensuring
that the Orchard Home is kept clean, pleasant and welcoming always.
Helping to serve meals
and drinks at mealtimes and other times when required, taking care to present
meals and refreshments in an attractive way, with polite and courteous service.
In addition, providing the appropriate level of support at mealtimes.
To participate in the
formulation and maintenance of individual care plans for each resident and
administer medication to residents as prescribed, accurately maintaining
appropriate records for both.
To liaise with other
care professionals relating to the care needs of the residents.

Qualifications
Essential
- Whilst its not imperative that you have a Level 3 qualification in health and social care, you need to possess your Level 2 and have a desire to achieve your Level 3 via our career pathway.
Experience
