Job summary

This is a Support Worker role to provide 1:1 support to a young adult with complex needs in their own home. The role involves personal care, meal preparation, and following detailed routines to help the individual live safely, happily, and with as much independence as possible. The job is located in Sturminster Newton and offers both day and waking night shifts.

Main duties of the job

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing 1:1 support to a young adult with complex needs in their own home. This will involve assisting with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, dressing, toileting, preparing safe and nutritious meals, supporting them out in the community, and providing reassurance, structure, and positive engagement throughout the day or night. You will need to be calm, patient, and observant, able to build trust over time, and willing to work in partnership with the individual's family and colleagues to ensure consistency of care. Experience supporting people with learning disabilities is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Were looking for caring and reliable Support Workers to join a small, dedicated team supporting a young adult with complex needs in their own home.Youll be providing 1:1 support to help them live safely, happily, and with as much independence as possible, both at home and out in the community. They are a friendly and sociable person who enjoys being around familiar people, sensory activities, going for walks, spending time outdoors, and exploring the local area.They thrive on routine andfeelsafest whensupportedby people whounderstandthem well.Communication is non-verbal, using body language and sounds, so being observant and taking the time to get to know them is essential.They are happiest when life is predictable and when their support team work together to keep them safe, comfortable, and engaged.

  • Sturminster Newton
  • Day shifts - 3pm-10pm (Monday-Friday)
  • Waking night shifts - 10pm - 9.30am
  • Shift times can be adjusted based on applicant availability
