The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our regional offices for up to 2 days per week, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home.

The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

We are looking for an experienced trainer/instructor to join our Training Team to deliver emergency preparedness and response training primarily within UK HSA and additionally for our external partners.

Main duties of the job

The role demands significant delivery of online training courses as well as travel in the UK and occasionally abroad to various venues for emergency preparedness training and events.

The successful candidate will be working flexibly, but there is a requirement for frequent travel throughout England to attend meetings and deliver training. The successful applicant will learn new skills and could be involved with the development and delivery of interesting training opportunities that are only possible in a national and international training role.

We are looking for someone with knowledge of emergency preparedness, resilience, and response (EPRR) in general, or a good working knowledge of multi-agency preparedness and response activities.

However, the successful candidate must have demonstrable experience of education and training in the adult learning sector. You should be qualified preferably to at least degree level and must hold or are working towards a teaching/training qualification at Level 4 or above and have significant experience in training adults. You should have good communication skills and diplomacy. This post may require you to submit for security clearance and you should be willing to travel extensively in the UK and overseas, which will require a flexible approach to working hours.

Job responsibilities

The post holder may be expected to work across regional sites, providing operational oversight and development to the service.

  • Develop and deliver a range of courses in Emergency Preparedness and Response.
  • Liaise with external training providers in the delivery of courses to UK HSA staff.
  • Provide regular reports on progress against objectives and contribution to strategic goals.
  • Manage and develop training content and delivery to quality standards.
  • Assess existing internal and external training programmes, identifying good practice and disseminate reports appropriately.
  • Develop, monitor, and deliver a range of training interventions for healthcare professionals in order to raise awareness and preparedness for Chemical, Biological and Radiological incidents and emergencies.
  • Contribute to the development of a system of national accreditation for emergency preparedness courses in relation to primary qualifications and continuous professional development.
  • Hold delegated responsibility for designated budget in respect of the delivery of appropriate projects and courses.
  • Establish and maintain networks with key collaborators both within UK HSA, the NHS and awarding bodies.
  • Contribute to the production of regular reports to our customers and awarding bodies.
  • Undertake work in accordance with UKHSA Health and Safety policies and procedures and to work within Quality Systems that are applicable to the project.
  • In line with other responsibilities, perform tasks assigned or objectives set by the line manager commensurate with the grade.

STAGE 3 IN PERSON PRESENTATION

This stage will involve an in person presentation to a group of learners for up to 20min
