An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Medical Exposures Group (MEG). We are seeking a registered therapeutic radiographer with experience in radiotherapy treatment and planning who is looking for a different perspective to their career development.

MEG is a multidisciplinary team who provide advice and support to a range of organisations including government, professional bodies, hospitals and clinics on medical exposures, regulatory and radiation protection issues, and safe clinical practice in the UK.

This is a great opportunity to bring your clinical knowledge and experience to a specialist team whilst maintaining your expertise in the latest developments in radiotherapy. The role involves some travel and a flexible approach to working is required.

Main duties of the job

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities and duties:

  • Provide independent advice to clinical radiotherapy departments across the UK, through a programme of on-site visits and the provision of a written report if required.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the radiotherapy database, ensuring timely upload, assessment of data as required.
  • Undertake multifaceted analysis of error data to identify common themes and understand their origins so as to share them with the radiotherapy community to minimize the occurrence of these events.
  • Work closely with line manager to ensure relevant security measures, including back-ups, are in place and are followed.
  • Work closely with line manager and IT to develop the database, data assessment, data analysis and data interpretation.
  • Communicate the details and outcomes of work through written reports.
  • Develop, plan and undertake tasks that will support the radiotherapy initiative.
  • Work with collaborators/ partners from other organisations including the NHS and professional bodies.
