Job responsibilities

As the IT Officer your main responsibilities will include:

• Understand and support the current maintenance and future development of the Microbiology LIMS (Laboratory Information Support System), this includes maintaining, monitoring and participate in the development of Interfaces and Middleware between the Laboratory Analysers and the LIMS.
• Work with laboratory medicine IT and Trust IT to:
• Maintain and configure Order communications for Microbiology for wards and GPs.
• Ensure that Microbiology is reported to Trust and GP EPR systems accurately.
• Design and develop data quality audits and monitoring, to produce reports on Data quality monitoring and audits for the Quality Meetings.
• To produced, review and maintain IT SOPs, system documentation, training manuals and polices and ensure that they are maintained and kept up to date.
• To assist the Laboratory IT Manager in ensuring that all systems owned by the department comply with the Data Protection Act.
• To be involved in the development of Web based strategies for dissemination of information at directorate and local level and act as Web Administrator for such web sites.
• You would need to support the out of hours service provision, in addition to participating in working as part of a small team, to include evenings, weekends and bank holidays and to participate in the on-call service

STAGE 2 INTERVIEW

This competition will involve an interview by either face to face or video.

Please note, as part of the selection process, you may be asked to prepare to deliver a presentation or take a test.

Your Statement of Suitability should outline your skills, experience, and achievements, providing evidence of your suitability for the role, with reference to the essential criteria (outlined in the person specification section).

You will also be asked to provide information within the Employer/ Activity history section of the application form. This is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV, setting out your career history.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Should hold a specialist HPC/IBMS Specialist portfolio in Bacteriology or Virology OR relevant MSc and relevant experience as a BMS EO/HEO
• IT related qualifications

Desirable

• State registration with Health Professions Council (HCPC)
