Research Output Manager

Grade: HEO National/ Inner: £30473- £41478 (DEPENDENT ON LOCATION)

FTC Contract - 18 months, with possible extension or conversion to permanent

You will be working in the Research Management & Knowledge Division (RMK) of the Scientific Strategy and Development Directorate in UKHSA's Science Group. The RMK division provides coordination and support for research and related activities across UKHSA, working with the wider public health research system nationally and internationally.

The post holder will manage specific aspects of the research support function, work on specific projects, and contribute to the development and delivery of the division's business plan and work programme, as well as contributing to the implementation of a comprehensive research management service. To support this important work, UKHSA has procured a central research information management system. You will provide support to users with the CRIS publications workflow and administer research outputs in the system, including creating, editing, and verifying metadata for research-related content, ensuring copyright and open access compliance. You will understand and interpret the requirements of research funder open access policies.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide support and training to UKHSA colleagues on the submission and workflow for depositing research-related content into the CRIS, answering and/or directing any enquiries received
  • Ensure that the CRIS is embedded and connected across UKHSA systems, (eg with Oracle Cloud Fusion)
  • Act as a point of contact for UKHSA staff for enquiries on the CRIS, Open Access publication routes, external policies, embargo periods, etc
  • Develop, update and disseminate guidance, training and promotional documentation to support the collation of research outcomes and outputs
  • Liaise with representatives of research-active directorates in UKHSA to ensure adherence with CRIS processes
  • Undertake data quality monitoring for the CRIS, ensuring metadata entry is subject to strict quality control
  • Implement, document and maintain effective quality control standards to ensure relevant CRIS content is accurate, reliable and timely
  • Source appropriate copies of research articles for retention in the system
  • Ensure that research outputs meet general copyright standards and meet open access compliance requirements
  • Assist with system upgrade/maintenance projects
  • Contribute to the day to day administration of the CRIS including liaison with suppliers, troubleshooting, and reporting
  • Support enhanced incident (emergency response) research and evaluation activities
