Job summary

We are seeking three Senior Scientists to lead on specific work areas and projects in the new Evaluation & Epidemiological Sciences Division in UKHSA.

The Senior Scientists will provide epidemiological and data management support across a number of topic areas; including evaluation and epidemiological science priorities and in collaboration with other partners. They will support and manage the technical and analytical aspects of epidemiological investigations within the team, and have important interface with local, regional and national colleagues, as well as external stakeholders.

Location

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working - this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK.

This role can be based at one of UKHSA's offices/locations with opportunities for an element of working from home. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process.

The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

Main duties of the job

The job holders will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

  • Identify evaluation and epidemiology science needs within given topic areas.
  • Conduct complex analyses and interpret data towards evidence-based recommendations and their translation into public health action.
  • Develop and prepare routine and ad hoc reports.
  • Respond to complex or sensitive data requests.
  • Apply statistical methods and use appropriate software tools to support data extraction, analysis and presentation.
  • Participate in research work, contribute to teaching activities and undertake line-management and supervision of junior staff.

Candidates will also be asked to participate in a session where they will be required to prepare and deliver a 5-minute presentation to the panel. This will be followed by a question-and-answer segment. The presentation will be designed to assess each candidates experience in line with the requirements of the role.
