Location: Hybrid working/Based from one of the UKHSA regions

Type and term of contract: FTC Contract till December 2024

This post holder will provide professional leadership for UKHSAs nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce including expert advice and leadership concerning revalidation requirements, safeguarding and specific national priority areas as identified in the Business Plan.

Location

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK.

This role can be based at one of our UKHSA offices/locations (Leeds, Manchester, Totnes, London, Horsham, Cardiff, Bristol, Nottingham, Harlow, Liverpool, Fareham, Gloucester, Newcastle and Birmingham) with opportunities for an element of working from home. You may be asked to express a location preference during the application process. The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

Main duties of the job

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

  • To ensure a process is in place to support training and development of the workforce to support them to maintain their registration.
  • Be responsible for communications about training and development both internally to all UKHSA colleagues including but not limited to nurses, midwives and AHPs, including line managers, and externally, in conjunction with UKHSA communications team.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to identify, progress, and evaluate training and development.
  • With the Head of Professional Standards, identify leads locally with the aim of creating professional networks of support i.e. reflective learning sets.
  • Build relationships to facilitate partnership working with other directorates and external organisations as required.
  • Respond to parliamentary questions where appropriate, providing briefings where appropriate.
  • Support the Head of Safeguarding and Head of Professional Standards and act in their capacity as delegated.
  • To provide advice and support to nurses, midwives and AHPs in UKHSA regarding safeguarding, registration and revalidation.

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Able to demonstrate a rich portfolio of reflective evidence suggesting you are ready to revalidate

Desirable

  • Registered General Nurse/Registered Midwife with current NMC registration
  • Post registration specialist qualification in a public health nursing discipline (i.e. SCPHN)
  • Master's degree in a health/public health related subject or equivalent demonstrable evidence

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Experience of leading/delivering and completing complex projects
  • Experience of developing, implementing and measuring professional standards
  • Experience of audit and accreditation of healthcare/public health practice
  • Has significant post registration experience
  • Has experience in people management including investigating and improving professional performance

Desirable

  • Experience of safeguarding
  • Proven track record as a nurse leader, with extensive professional portfolio of publication, conference presentation, research and clinical audit
