Job summary

The mission of the HCAI, Fungal, AMR, AMU & Sepsis Division within UKHSA is to protect people from healthcare-associated and antimicrobial resistant infections, through world-leading public health microbiology, outbreak response, surveillance, research and interventions.

UKHSA has mounted an unprecedented public health response in relation to COVID-19 including setting up new national surveillance projects (e.g. RCGP and ICU Surveillance), in depth analysis in certain cohorts (nursing home, hospitals, schoolchildren, workplaces) and new research studies (Genomics consortium, COG-UK and large cohort studies in healthcare workers, SIREN).

This post is located in the SIREN study team that sit within the HCAI, Fungal, AMR, AMU & Sepsis Division of UKHSA.

Main duties of the job

The main duties and responsibilities are;

  • Clinical and research support to research and surveillance studies related to COVID-19, primarily the SIREN study.
  • Preparation of policy and strategy documents, briefings and presentations
  • Provision of dedicated medical support into supporting laboratory set up for COVID-19
  • Supporting Clinical Research teams in NHS Trusts
  • Developing reports to PHE and Government
  • Input into clinical reporting algorithms and adverse incident management.
  • General support for outbreak investigations
  • Participation in general work related to COVID-19 and wider impact on other infections
  • Development of guidance related to COVID-19
