UKHSAs Directorate of Chemical, Radiation and Environmental Hazards (CRE), is part of the Science Group and is the focal point for independent advice on health risks from exposure to radiation, chemicals, and environmental hazards.
Main duties of the job
RCEs Chemicals and Environmental Effects Department is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Public Health, to head the Extreme Events and Health Protection (EEHP) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the evidence base for the public health impacts of adverse weather events, working closely with partners, policy makers and academics, in the UK and internationally; providing subject matter expertise to support extreme event preparedness and response. The postholder will l also manage the EEHP team and coordinate the relevant adverse weather event response plans for England which is integral to ensuring that the UKHSA responds in real-time to adverse weather situations as a Category 1 responder.
The successful candidate will be appointed to the Consultant salary scale appropriate to their years of seniority or if from a background other than medicine to NHS Agenda for Change Band 8d.
