This role offers an exciting opportunity to help build on the CPRDs 30-years of providing data for drug safety and epidemiological studies, resulting in over 3,500 peer-reviewed publications investigating drug safety, use of medicines, effectiveness of health policy, health care delivery and disease risk factors. The Research Data Governance (RDG) Officer is responsible for supporting the management of CPRDs compliance with legal, regulatory, ethics and policy requirements, with a particular focus on information governance (IG).

Reporting to the Head of Information Governance (Clinical Practice Research Datalink), the post holder will provide research data governance support across all CPRD teams. The purpose of the role is to help ensure that CPRDs primary care and linked data assets are managed and used legally, ethically, securely, efficiently and effectively to maximise the value of CPRDs research data for public health research. The post holder will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated individual with experience of data or information governance, risk and compliance (GRC), ideally in an NHS, health, health research or health research services organisation.

The post holder will be competent at managing and proactively resolving routine data governance issues, be highly organised/possess strong administrative skills, be capable of delivering multiple tasks to a high standard, possess good written and verbal communication skills, and be capable of liaising with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the delivery of a robust information governance framework
  • Supporting information risk management
  • Supporting legal, ethical and regulatory approvals for use of patient data for research
  • Promoting best practice and providing up-to-date information
