Job summary

The Corporate Service Officer will play a key role in providing high quality business support across the organization. The responsibilities of the role will also be spread across a broad range of corporate service functions including administration, projects, and events.

Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, the post-holder will be expected to work closely with the Performance and Corporate Governance team to ensure the smooth running of the organisation and provide business support to each Directorate.

The post holder will provide effective and timely responses to enquiries from our stakeholders and members of the public and manage competing priorities and ensure deadlines are met without compromising standards.

The variety within this role enables the post holder to further develop a broad range of skills and experience whilst delivering a valuable contribution our to overall goals and objectives. Main duties of the job

  • Provide cross-organisational business support with shared services contractual management and admin cover across each Directorate
  • Provide administrative support across various workstreams. This would include cross function project and training support
  • Provide key administrative support in arranging HTA meetings and events by drafting agendas, sending invitations, recording responses, collating materials, and any other tasks, as agreed by line manager
  • Provide assistance on Compliance, Critical Incident Response Plan (CIRP), Business Continuity (BC) and FOI requests as delegated by the Corporate Service Manager
  • Act as secretary to the Quality Forum, scheduling meetings, prepare the agenda, take minutes, and circulate and draft materials
  • Act as the main point of contact for the HTAs enquiry function. Responsible for responding to a wide variety of telephone and email enquiries and directing them to the appropriate team
  • Responsible for ensuring the timely distribution of all enquiries in line with corporate guidelines
  • Responsible for collating, analysing and inputting data to produce monthly business reports
  • Act as the HTAs point of contact for Events and Facilities activities across the office, which will include liaising with co located Regulators and represent the HTA at tenant meetings.
  • Ensure appropriate fire, incident control and health and safety provisions
  • Responsible for delivering the annual Health and Safety refresher training, arranging office inductions etc

The HTA is the national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and use tissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching and display in public. We also give approval for organ and bone marrow donations from living people. With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre of our work, we aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is used safely and ethically, with proper consent.

Established under the Human Tissue Act 2004, we are an Executive Non- Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Department of Health and Social Care. The Authoritys Chair and members are appointed by the Secretary of State for Health. The Chair and half of the members are lay, with the remainder being professionals drawn from some of the groups who are affected by the legislation. The Authority is supported by an Executive team of 50 staff.

The HTA has developed an ambitious vision and strategy for the next three years centred on achieving greater sustainability, agility, and resilience in our operations. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the HTA has brought forward a number of changes already identified in the Development Programme. A key driver of the Development Programme is the HTAs aim to be a data driven regulator, strengthening the role data and intelligence plays in our model and the regulatory offer to the sectors and establishments we license.
