Job summary

An exciting opportunity to work in the beautiful Island of Jersey has arisen. Jersey is part of the Channel Islands and although is part of the UK, is in the unique position of being largely self-governing. The Government of Jersey are recruiting to Clinical/Counselling Psychology posts in an evolving Mental Health Care Group. The successful candidates will have the chance to take part in the formation of a new complex trauma network as well as providing therapeutic care for clients across a broad range of complex presentations. These posts will be attractive to applicants with and interest in complex trauma and experience that matches that interest.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a variety of candidates with at least 2 years experience post qualification, possibly with a background of involvement with secondary mental health/personality disorder services.

The successful applicants will have training in a selection of treatment modalities which may include EMDR/DBT/CAT/schema and other therapies with good evidence based outcomes for complex clients. These posts will involve joint working with other mental health clinicians and our third sector stakeholders. Job description

Job responsibilities

Deliver a high-quality specialist psychology service to adults accessing support from the Mental Health Care Group. This will involve providing highly specialised assessments, formulations, and interventions to adults over the age of 18 years with complex/ highly complex needs and presentations, utilising a range of psychological approaches and interventions. Supervision of newly qualified psychologists, development of peer supervision and advocacy of psychological theories and interventions among other professionals.

1 . Provide highly specialised psychological assessments for adults, based on the use, interpretation and integration of complex data in order to formulate complex plans for psychological intervention and make highly skilled evaluations about treatment options.

2. Implement, monitor and evaluate a range of highly specialised psychological interventions for individuals and groups across a variety of settings and in partnership with other therapists when necessary, to provide high-quality, timely and tailored support to all clients.

3. Develop and co-ordinate intensive multi-agency care packages and therapeutic interventions for adults with complex and acute presentations, necessitating intensive outreach, intensive client support and high-level risk management to ensure that each individual client receives the support they need when they need it.

4. Deliver high-level risk assessments regarding risk of suicidality, harm to self and others for adults across a range of community locations, in order to make complex clinical decisions regarding level of risk and appropriate management of this, taking into account the adult's presentation and wider systemic factors.

5. Provide advice and support to other professionals working with adults with mental health issues e.g. Listening Lounge, Sexual Assault Referral Unit in order to facilitate a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach to case management, formulation, and intensive care packages.

6. Provide clinical Supervision to assistant/ trainee Psychologists and high intensity workers.

7. Lead the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service through the active demonstration of good management and maintenance of a caseload, undertaking appropriate risk assessment and management and providing consultation and support to other professionals and policy/business planning processes, in order to ensure the service meets agreed protocols, legislative requirements and best practice standards.

8. Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping, including electronic data entry and recording and report writing, and preparation of materials to meet legislative requirements and to support the dissemination and understanding of psychological concepts and ideas.

9. Carry out small scale research projects applicable to service development and carry out audits of service provision, to support the implementation of evidence-based good practice in the clinical work of the service.

10. Be involved and support Line managers in service development and delivery of KPl's.
