Job summary

We are excited to offer you the opportunity to be a part of the newly formed Crisis and Assessment Team within Adult Mental Health in the specialist role of Authorised Officer (Jersey's naming of AMHP's or MHO's). As part of a redesign and an injection of additional funding, the crisis and assessment team assesses individuals at the front door into mental health services, formulating care plans and next steps in collaboration with service users and their carers, in a thriving multi-disciplinary team. We also manage the 24/7 AO rota, facilitating referrals for, and completion of, mental health law assessments as and when needed. We can offer a good work-life balance, a compassionate and enthusiastic staff team, and opportunities to contribute to the development of the team and the service. We are looking for passionate and confident assessors who can work autonomously and as part of a team. For an informal discussion please contact Becky Brawley at b.brawley@health.gov.je. As an inclusive employer we will create opportunities for flexible working to attract and retain talent which reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We welcome applications for working flexible hours, part-time working and job sharing.

About us

Just 14 miles (20km) from the west coast of France and 85 miles (137km) from the south coast of England, youll find the island of Jersey. The island is easy to get to from the UK and mainland Europe. There are up to 40 daily flights in and out of the island.

Jerseys southerly position and sheltered proximity in the Bay of St Malo means islanders enjoy warm summers and mild winters. As well as the temperate weather, Jersey also boasts the highest number of sunshine hours in the British Isles. The sea temperature in the summer can reach 18 degrees C.

Jersey is a Crown Dependency which means its not part of the UK but a self-governing possession of The Crown. Jersey has been a Crown Dependency since 1290 and has its own democratically elected parliament, government, tax system, and laws. However, the island does have a close historic relationship with France and the UK and relies on the UK for defence and international relations. It is also part of the Common Travel Area (CTA) which allows British citizens to move freely between the UK, Republic of Ireland, and the Channel Islands without a passport.

Jersey offers extensive and quality healthcare services, with private and state supported options available. Jersey doesnt have the NHS, healthcare services are instead delivered by Health and Community Services (HCS).For the first 6 months, health care services will be provided at an added cost.
