Main duties of the job

If this sounds like an opportunity too good to miss and you have experience at consultant level with good general medicine experience and specialty registration in any of the following areas:

Frailty and older people - There is a rehabilitation facility off-site from the main hospital with all facilities and staffing as well as an older age ward in the hospital for admissions.

Stroke - We have on-site thrombolysis for our acute patients and transfer off-island for thrombectomy cases. We are developing a hyper acute stroke unit (HASU) and have a dedicated ward for stroke patients. Community support is well developed with Jersey Stroke Association.

Acute medicine - Our 20 bedded Acute Medical Unit (AMU) receives all admissions (except stroke which go directly to the HASU if possible). It has an Enhanced Care Area (ECA) and supports our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit.

The hospital has a great educational centre with a full SIM lab and dedicated time for all to learn.

Aligned to the Wessex Health Education, we support and develop Foundation Trainees as well as support Clinical Fellows, SAS doctors and we encourage all our consultants to fully engage with education and training of our future generation of consultants.

Jersey is easily accessible from most regional airports in the UK and has good links with NHS tertiary centres especially in Southampton and London. Which affords the successful candidates to maintain links within the NHS and the private sector working.
