We are looking for caring, motivated and enthusiastic Paediatric Nurses to join Robin Ward, a 13 bedded unit, where holistic and therapeutic care is delivered to children aged between 0-16 years within all specialities. The post holder will be expected to have excellent clinical and teamwork skills. They will be expected to show professionalism and competence in all aspects of their clinical practice demonstrated through excellent communication, strong organisational skills as well as innovative and flexible approaches to care which helps continue to improve the child and family experience. Main duties of the job
Paediatric Nurses are registered practitioners with professional accountability to efficiently assess,
plan, implement and evaluate the care of children/young people (0-17) with a range of conditions
ensuring high quality evidence-based care is consistently achieved. They will work as part of the
multi-disciplinary team to provide a friendly service for children/young people and their families that
is responsive, flexible, and striving to deliver excellence. This includes reviewing standards and
engaging with children/young people and their families to ensure their voices are heard.
They may be required to take charge of the shift in the absence of a more senior Nurse.

Jersey has been a

Job responsibilities
1. Maintain up to date awareness of developments within paediatric nursing practice, by
acquiring knowledge and skills in reading, interpreting, and evaluating research to pursue
continuous professional development.
2. Preform clinical tasks & risk assessment on children/young people which includes but is not
limited to urinalysis, physiological measurements, blood sugar testing, infant feeding,
venepuncture, cannulation, swabs, stool samples, sputum specimens and record accurately
on EPR/PEWS and escalate concerns as appropriate.
3. Act as an advocate for children/young people and their families, providing them with
information and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate.
4. Responsible for the safeguarding and welfare of all children/young people and their families
within their care and contact. While being aware of and complying with all safeguarding
policies and procedures.
5. Ensure that all patient care is documented, and that all relevant documentation is completed
accurately and within agreed timescales in line with NMC and Health & Community Services
standards.
6. Take a pro-active approach to risk management, raising learning points through DATIX,
working with colleagues to reduce risk in all areas of service delivery in line with clinical
governance.
7. Provide care in partnership with doctors and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
especially when deviations from the norm occur to promote a healthy outcome/discharge for
children/young people and their families.
8. Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children/young people, their
families, and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support
during distressing or emotional events.
9. Have a comprehensive understanding of medication safety principles, including the
principles of administration, storage, and handling of medicines. They will also engage in
discussions with children/young people and their families, pharmacists, and other healthcare
professionals to ensure accurate and up to date information regarding medicines.
10. Exhibit professional behaviour and attitude being a positive role model for colleagues,
children/young people, and their families, acting in a manner which illustrates respect for
privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
11. Be aware and compliant with of all relevant Health & Community Services policies,
procedures and clinical guidelines and escalate any concerns/breaches.
12. Participate in the continual review, development, and improvement of paediatric services by
partaking in quality auditing processes and providing input into the development of future
policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
13. Undertake scheduled and emergency flight transfers with children/young people needing off-island treatment at UK tertiary centres, this may be nurse-led or with the support of doctors
