Senior Staff Nurse - Oncology/Haematology

Job summary

The Oncology/Haematology department at Jersey General hospital is actively seeking to recruit two experienced nurses who have achieved competency in SACT (Systemic anti-cancer therapies). The unit provides a five-day service for those with malignant oncological or haematological conditions offering SACT and supportive therapies.

Main duties of the job

Normal working hours are between 08:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday with no requirement to work weekends or bank holidays. We can offer a friendly, motivated team who are keen to learn and promote continuous improvement, whilst also maintaining an excellent work life balance. Jersey is a beautiful island and there are many opportunities to enjoy the stunning beaches and beautiful countryside. We would particularly like to hear from those of you with haematological experience and would consider a grade 5 for this role dependant on experience.

If you are looking to relocate to Jersey as a Registered Nurse then this is a very exciting opportunity for you, you will be supported by a relocation company and a financial package. which includes family relocation support. Your physical relocation company costs are organised by your consultant and are covered for up to £5,000. A further £3,000 is paid in your first wage. You are funded to attend for interview and a further visit for viewings of properties with your spouse or partner.

You are granted 195.0 hours annual leave and on average 9 public holiday days per year equating to a further 67.5 hours leave. 2022 allowance was a generous 82.5 hours due to varying public holidays granted by the Government of Jersey to mark momentous historic occasions. This is versus the standard allowance of 8 in the NHS.

Jersey sits in the Bay of St Malo, 19 miles from the coast of France and 85 miles south of the English coast. Its population is around 100,000. We have beautiful beaches, a mild climate, plus great sport and social facilities. Our transport links to all major cities in the UK are excellent, with London only a 40-minute flight away. We have a limited amount of accommodation that can be provided for six months to help you settle in and decide where you want to live and we can help negotiate leases on properties for you.

This role operates across a range of clinical areas within the acute and community services. You will plan and deliver an effective and competent level of care, be fully aware of the needs of the patients and drive the standard in patient care.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across other department to ensure the continuity in patient care, acting as a role model for colleagues, patients and relatives. Supervise the care given by Healthcare Assistants and provide guidance and training as appropriate.

The post holder will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the guidelines of the NMC Code (2015) and apply these to maintain trust and credibility with patients, carers and colleagues.

The post holder will keep fully up to date with developments within own professional discipline and maintain an adequate awareness of developments in clinical and nursing practice and will share clinical knowledge and experience.
