Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Optimisation Team

Job summary

Are you a registered Pharmacy Technician looking for a new and challenging opportunity? Join Manx Cares Medicines Optimisation Team and play a key role in improving the safe and effective use of medicines across the Isle of Man. In this dynamic role, you will provide expert pharmacy support to patients, clinical staff, GP Surgeries, Care Home teams, and specialist services including mental health and learning disability. You will work closely with pharmacists to prepare for and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings for patients in Care Homes and those supported by the Frailty Service. The role also involves supporting large-scale improvement projects, such as developing policy documents, contributing to Patient Group Directions, and assisting in the production of the Manx Care Formulary.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake medicine-related audits to improve prescribing quality, analyse trends, and support cost-saving initiatives. In addition, you will respond to queries within the Medicines Optimisation Team, providing timely and accurate guidance across the organisation. This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a broader, system-wide context, making a tangible impact on patient care and the safe use of medicines.   • BTEC in pharmaceutical science or NVQ Level 3 supported by appropriate underpinning knowledge from BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NPA or equivalent qualification
  • Registered as a Practising Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
