Job summary

Are you looking to expand your trauma and orthopaedic skills? Join the well-integrated team at Nobles Hospital in this non-training role doctor post as an Orthopaedics Clinical Fellow Doctor. Day-to-day, you will be involved in the ward management of both elective and trauma orthopaedic patients, attend the orthopaedic and trauma outpatient clinics, and be encouraged to partake in the elective and trauma theatre lists. Working as part of one of four consultant-led teams, you will have fantastic opportunities to gain experience in routine care of orthopaedic patients and to develop basic orthopaedic surgical skills.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a 1 in 5 on call rota comprising 24 hour on call shift (16 hours residential 08.00 to 24.00 / 8 hours non residential 00.00 to 08.00) with compensatory rest. This on call service provides 1st on call cover for orthopaedics and is supported by 2nd and 3rd on call non residential cover through dedicated Orthopaedic Associate Specialists \ Staff Grade Doctors and Consultants. The Orthopaedic service spans two mixed-sex wards comprising of 31 beds in total, and offers a range of general orthopaedics to cater to the needs of the population, as well as a dedicated Orthopaedic and Fracture Clinic with embedded physiotherapy facilities and plaster room and the support of a well-equipped radiology department. As the road racing capital of the world, the Isle of Man hosts the world-famous TT races and the Manx Grand Prix, meaning that for 4 weeks a year Orthopaedics deal with a large intake of high velocity injuries from both racers and visitors alike.
